2011 Fall Festival
October 14, 2011

On October 14, 2011 people of all ages had a fun-filled time at Family Life's Fall Festival.  After a delicious supper of meatball subs, salad, and apple crisp, attendees had a choice of several activities:  apple dunking, pumpkin decorating, exploring scary slime-laden boxes, making crafts, and creating live mummies.  A picture is worth a thousand words; these photos reveal joy this evening gave to many of us.  Thanks, Family Life, for your hard work in sponsoring this event.

2011 Monson MA Tornado Response Kits

In response to the destruction caused by 2011 tornados that severely damaged the greater Springfield MA area, KCC members rallied to fill six Emergency Buckets. Twenty-two church members provided the 270 items needed. The large organizational chart (in photo), created by Catherine Winter and her mother Danielle, made purchasing, sorting and packing easier. The buckets were delivered on July 14th to the UCC church in Providence for delivery to the central collection point. Thanks to all who helped!

KCC SCRIP PROGRAM

In early November, we launched a new fundraising initiative. Shopping With Scrip!!! The Scrip Program is often referred to as "Shopping Cart Fundraising". We all buy: groceries, clothing, medications, books, coffees on the go, a quick bite to eat, a dinner out, office supplies, etc. We all buy gift cards to give to others as birthday or holiday presents.  Now, with KCC Scrip, you can make these same purchases (no added cost to you) and generate dollars for KCC‚s ministries. Scrip uses debit/gift cards to pay for your purchases. All you have to do is order/pick up your cards at Church on Sunday,  then  go shopping. We even have an inventory of select cards available for "Same Day" purchase: Belmont's, Stop & Shop, Shaw's, CVS, Rite Aid, Dunkin Donuts, Starbuck's, and Panera Bread. There are over 500 Retailers in the program; their rebates to non-profit organizations range between 2% and 19%, with an average of 5%. In our first month of operation we've sold over $16,000 of card value and realized $840 for KCC. We honestly believe that if we all get behind this program, we could raise 10,000-$20,000 annually, perhaps more, for KCC's ministries.  It's easy. All you have to do is bring a check and we'll help you get started.  So please make the effort to get involved. Get your Holiday Gift Cards from KCC Scrip!!!! If you order cards this coming Sunday, 13th, you'll have them on the 20th, just in time for your Christmas Meal shopping or for placing in stockings or to give to the mailperson, paper delivery person, children's teachers, etc.  The Scrip Table is open every Sunday, either in Fellowship Hall or the Fireplace Room. Feel free to contact anyone of our Scrip Team:  Dottie Leduc, Nancy Corvese, Beth Curtis, or Tom Butcher for more info. You also can go onto two websites to get more information and to see the complete list of retailers: www.shopwithscrip.com and www.glscrip.com.
