“ ‘I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me…. Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ ” Matthew 25:35-40
We are committed to the belief that the heart of the Christian church’s mission is to work to embody the Kingdom of God as Jesus understood it - a community where love of God and love of neighbor are enacted daily. This commitment is reflected in how we use our facilities, apply our financial resources, and provide volunteer service to our community. Outreach includes:
- Frequent use of the church building by Scout troops as well as AA, OA, and Alanon groups
- An ongoing active involvement with South Providence Neighborhood Ministries
- Food collections and holiday gifts for families of the Peace Dale Jonnycake Center
- Providing food for the local Friday night Storehouse meals for the hungry
- Participating in the Walk for Shelter to raise money for Welcome House homeless shelter
- Offering a pot luck Thanksgiving dinner for those with no place else to go
Annually, adults and youth in our congregation provide hundreds and hundreds of hours of service to our community. For information on how you can pitch in contact our Board of Missions.
